What We Did

A new major Theatre Development and Tumour Unit for The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

Located alongside the main hospital entrance, the new build extension to the existing hospital provides:

·         ADOS unit (admitted on day of surgery)

·         4 new Ultra Clean Operating Theatres

·         Pre and Post Op facilities

·         High Dependency Unit

·         In-patients facilities and a 10 bed Tumour ward

·         Outpatient facilities

·         New dedicated Bone Cancer Centre

·         Flexible multi-use ward to first floor

Procured via the Procure 21+ Healthcare Framework, the project has reached a major milestone as the Baschurch Day Unit – one of the new departments within the building has welcomed its first patients.

Despite being open to the public, a link bridge connecting the theatres to the main hospital will complete the building in late 2016.

The design is patient focussed to reduce patient waiting times and improve the flow of staff, patients and supplies around the hospital. This new scheme will ultimately enhance the overall hospital site and complement the recently completed main entrance development, creating a fantastic new state of the art facility for patients using the services of the RJAH NHS Foundation Trust.

“We have been looking forward to getting this building up and running for some time now, and we have always known it was going to make such a massive difference to the patient experience. However, after seeing inside it, I have to say it has exceeded our already high expectations. We are delighted and it has been such a boost to the morale of everyone here at RJAH.”
