Critical Care / Peri-Operative Care
What We Did
This new and additional ICU unit for Bradford Teaching Hospitals is a significant and important investment in helping and supporting the Covid situation. The importance of creating our hospital environments has never been more important.
Design and construction moved at pace on site, in a very difficult and challenging complex estate, which included significant M&E and structural work.
All delivered as part of the Trust COVID response, this 10 bed ward will be used for peri-operative care for higher dependency patients needing an extended recovery period, with the ability to flex up to ICU if additional surge capacity is required. Rehabilitation space was provided adjacent to the ward area with an external terrace area for additional exercise space to encourage post operative patients to be mobile more quickly to aid recovery. This improves patient mobility, increased cardiovascular fitness, with fewer side-effects, reduced blood clots, reduce length of stay and faster recovery.
