Bradford Royal Infirmary, New Wing
What We Did
Gilling Dod Interiors were appointed by Bradford Royal Infirmary to deliver a creative and unique interior design strategy to several areas of the new hospital wing including Main Entrance and Concourse, Information Centre, Paediatrics, Elderly Care and the Critical Care Unit. These spaces were designed with recovery and wellbeing at the forefront of the design concept. The interior design scheme was developed through in-depth user engagement sessions, as a result creating a set of spaces which added immeasurable value to the design process and contributed to the end-user experience.
The public spaces form the heart of the hospital, presenting an environment of calm, consisting of natural effect finishes combined with fresh and bolder tones. Coherence of interior design and signage strategies allows for ease of wayfinding throughout; in Paediatrics an animal story book theme was implemented to offer playful and interactive interiors for younger patients, while Elderly Care focuses upon key dementia principles within the design inspired by local landscapes. Gilling Dod Interiors supplied a Design Guide to the client for use on future refurbishments to allow for a cohesive scheme to be developed throughout the Bradford Royal Infirmary site in years to come.
