What We Do

Over many years, Gilling Dod has built up a first class reputation throughout the North West of England for the work we have undertaken within the building industry. Recently our assignments have extended to Yorkshire, the Midlands, Norfolk and to Northern Ireland where we have established a partnering arrangement with the McAdam Design practice.

Although the Practice's philosophy is to remain principally as Architects, Gilling Dod brings together strengths from many areas of the design and construction industry.

Much of the work carried out by Gilling Dod has been in the public and private healthcare sectors. Since 2000, we have been commissioned over £246 million of funding through Procure 21, an initiative set up to administer funding for Healthcare related projects. This success is testament to the Practice's combined skills, knowledge and experience within the sector and extensive portfolio of Mental Healthcare projects.

Yet as far back as the late 19th Century, the Practice has been designing many major landmarks in Liverpool including the Cunard Building in 1914, the White Star Building in 1898 and the Queen Victoria Monument in 1902. They have also played a key role in the provisions of educational building, responsible for a number of well known establishments including King William College on the Isle of Man and Adlington Hall in Shrewsbury.

Gilling Dod still retain strong relationships with clients in the educational sector and have in recent years provided feasibility studies and designs for Liverpool School of Music and have also been instrumental in the major refurbishment of Cohen Library in Liverpool, a building that was originally designed by the Practice back in 1938.
