Newton Hospital

One of the country’s first Community Hospitals is now up and running and accepting patients. The Newton Community Hospital in St Helens is a flagship development for the region and follows a £10 million capital investment by Halton and St Helens NHS Primary Care Trust.

The 4000m2 new facility designed by Gilling Dod Architects and was constructed on time and to budget by Galliford Try. The new building will house a GP Practice and enables the PCT to offer a range of services including out posted hospital based services, 30 Intermediate Care beds, diagnostic services, x-ray, Ultra-sound and ECG facilities under one roof. The new building will be owned by Partners 4 LIFT and maintained by Kiers Facilities Management and was one of numerous schemes delivered this way in the area.

The bespoke state of the Art design was developed following close working with clinicians, staff and end users attending a number of detailed Users Groups to look at specific issues relating to the Service Model. There was also considerable input from CABE. Now in full occupation the facility is getting rave reviews from staff and patients alike as it establishes itself as a pivotal Health Facility located in the heart of the Community it serves.
