What We Did

St Clares Abbey is a listed mid 19th century Convent in Darlington, originally designed by the well known victorian ecclesiastical architect, Hansom. Gilling Dod were appointed to review future uses for the Abbey for its current owners the Hospitaller Order of St John of God whilst concurrently undertaking a number of refurbishment projects including the gatehouse and entrance areas to create an office suite and associated facilities, the living accommodation and the flat for the Provincial.

The projects were carried out to a high quality specification and the Interior Design was delivered by Gilling Dod Interiors, the brief was to produce a very traditional solution, in keeping with the building’s 19th century heritage.
