Gilling Dod Architects recently secured planning approval for four contemporary houses on a previously developed site in Neston. The site is adjacent to an eighteenth century windmill and is within an area that the local council had identified as being within the zone where the provision of new housing is restricted. The removal of the previous unneighbourly industrial use within a primarily residential area was one of the deciding factors when the application was determined. The scheme is designed with materials that reflect the vernacular architecture with sandstone and render used for walls whilst slate and clay tiles are used on roofs.
