Gilling Dod were commissioned to undertake the refurbishment and extension of an existing retail building in the centre of Heswall, Wirral. Following the demise of Kwik Save (one of the major tenants) approx. 985 m² of prime ground floor accommodation became vacant. Seeing this as an opportunity to invest in the fabric of the building our client decided to begin a programme of major refurbishment and extension works in order to revitalise the site.
Our brief was to increase the retail offer in Heswall by providing a range of unit sizes whilst ensuring the building is brought up to current standards. A decision was taken at an early stage to largely retain the existing structure and to reclad the existing facades in a contemporary fashion.
