Primary

The Primary Care sector has seen significant investment over the last few years and as such Gilling Dod have been involved in numerous high profile Projects. These range from large multi disciplinary GP surgeries, Diagnostic and Treatment facilities and Health Centres, through to fully fledged Community Hospitals.

Many of these were true Community based Projects with in some cases the facilities being part of a larger Urban regeneration scheme or Public Health initiative.

These buildings are effectively the front line and public face of the NHS for many sections of the general public hence their importance in helping deliver local care services cannot be underestimated. Using our experience from the Acute sector in terms of latest Best Practice, patient focussed design and built-in flexibility we have been able to meet the challenges with evidenced based learning and innovation.

The Newton Community Hospital in St Helens was one of the first of It’s kind in the Country. It has inpatient beds, a state of the art Outpatient department, a minor operations unit and pharmacy. Set in a suburban district of an old mining Community the new building has become a focal point for the area and takes some of the pressures of the local Acute facilities.

The Castlevale Primary Care and Resource centre was one of the pilot schemes under Procure 21 and was part of the larger Urban regeneration of a run down area of Birmingham. The facility had fully equipped GP surgeries, a minor operations and Dental suite and Children’s clinic and Nursery. It also was a base for a host of Community based healthcare professionals and a Vulnerable witness suite run with the local Police. All in all, modern frontline Community Healthcare in action.
