Guild Lodge Low Secure Unit
Client: Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust
Location: Preston
Value: £8Million
Status: Completed 2010
Guild Lodge is the latest phase of the sites development and sees the return for Gilling Dod Architects to the facility following the completion of the MSU projects in 2003. The new 30 bed facility was constructed under the Procure21 initiative with Integrated Health Partnership as the PSCP.
The new unit embraces curved forms to aid sight lines and creates a true non-institutional solution, drawing on concepts from Holland and Sweden. Using a variation on the courtyard theme, the new building is a flagship facility for the Trust and will satisfy the latest key guidance for the service.
The scheme has recently been submitted for BBH Award 2010 (building better healthcare) for Best Mental Health Design.
