Gilling Dod were commissioned by the University of Liverpool to undertake an extensive feasibility study to determine the viability of redevelopment of the Liverpool School of Music, subsequently we were invited to design an extension to incorporate a new sound recording studio.

Construction of the new two storey building began in 2001 and included a recording studio and practice room which was built to the rear of the existing Georgian terrace. The interior of the existing buildings was also modified to improve the circulation route between the terraced units and improve security and safety.
