West Cumberland Hospital back on course

As a result of the Coalition Government’s review of expenditure last summer, the NWDA was disbanded and as an outcome some of the funding for the new West Cumberland Hospital was withdrawn. This resulted in the Trust and team redesigning the scheme to fit the reduced budget. This has led to some disruption in the overall programme, but we are pleased to confirm that we are now progressing and back on course with the revised scheme.

The £90Million project will see the biggest single investment in healthcare for West Cumbria in over half a century. It presents an immensely exciting opportunity to bring hospital care into the 21st century and will generate a significant boost to the local economy, contributing to the regeneration of the region.
