Gilling Dod were commissioned to carry out the refurbishment of Chorley Police Station a 1960’s multi-storey building. The refurbishment was undertaken in all areas including the updating of all office accommodation and meeting rooms. The work also included new windows, structural repairs to the external fabric, as well as completely new mechanical and electrical services. We also undertook the removal of asbestos and the provision of a new fire resistance strategy. In addition around the first floor external balcony, a precast concrete handrail was found to be in a dangerous condition and support replacement and general repairs were carried out. The refurbishment was carried out a floor at a time to enable all other floors to be fully operational.
